A good lighting design meets the governing standard without putting more poles and wattage in the ground than the corridor needs. We design roadway and intersection lighting and check proposed or existing layouts against the jurisdiction’s criteria. We can run compliance checks for multiple jurisdictions and have designed to meet PBOT, ODOT, and City of Beaverton lighting standards.
What We Deliver
- Photometric plans showing iso-illumination lines across the roadway, so a reviewer can read the coverage at a glance.
- Luminaire summaries that list every fixture in the design along with the light loss factors (LLF) applied in the calculations.
- An efficient design and an alternative. We look for the layout with the fewest fixtures or lowest wattage that still meets the standard and is practical to build from a civil engineer’s point of view, then provide a second option for comparison. Each option comes with its own summary calculations.
- Luminaire selection and pole placement.
- Electrical distribution plans for new lighting systems.
- Compliance checks of lighting layouts, including lighting analysis for development applications.
Where We Apply It
Our lighting work covers new roadway lighting installations, intersection lighting upgrades, and lighting analysis prepared for development applications. The same photometric approach works whether the question is how to light a new corridor or whether an existing layout still meets the current standard.
Standards We Work To
PBOT, ODOT, and City of Beaverton lighting standards, along with AASHTO and IES guidance and the lighting requirements of the local agency.
